Your Daily News from Around Disney 2/10/15

I can't wait until the warm weather comes back to the north (meaning I want Spring and Summer). On top of that it seems I have come down with a cold. It is another day and the world of Disney as always has been filled with news. So let's get down to the thick of things with your daily news from around Disney.

Sony Brings Marvel Studios into the World of the Amazing Spider-Man:

Today Marvel and Sony announced that Spider-Man will now appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He will first appear in a Marvel film in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), reportedly in the next Captain America film. Sony will thereafter continue the Spider-Man series with its next installment due out on July 28, 2017. That film will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch 13 years ago. Disney CEO Bob Iger said, "Spider-Man is one of Marvel's great characters, beloved around the world. We're thrilled to work with Sony Pictures to bring the iconic web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens up fantastic new opportunities for storytelling and franchise building." Spider-Man is the most successful franchise in Sony Pictures history, with its five films taken in more the $4 billion worldwide. With the news of Spider-Man film for 2017, Disney also delayed 4 films with the next Thor film being delayed until November 3, 2017, "Black Panther" coming in July 2018, "Captain Marvel" in November 2018, and "Inhumans" in July 2019.

Tomorrowland Arcade Permanently Closes Today at the Magic Kingdom:

Today the Tomorrowland Arcade located at the end of Space Mountain permanently closed in the Magic Kingdom. Yesterday was the final day of operation, and Disney gave no indication what would replace it or gave any official comment on the matter. It is suspected that changes in Florida laws regarding bans on internet cafe's that may potentially be applied to video game arcades that dispense prizes are behind the closing. Rumors are that Disney may also close any similar prize counters and games involving clawing for prizes in resort hotels. What is your opinion on the closing of the Tomorrowland Arcade?

Update: Hat Watch 2015 in Hollywood Studios:

Well we are getting closer and closer to the Sorcerer's Hat being gone from Hollywood Studios. We also learned today that disappearing spires from the Chinese Theater that the hat was blocking will be put back up, as Disney filed for the permit recently. Here is an updated photo of the Sorcerer's Hat looks like as of today. Photo is courtesy of @bioreconstruct on Twitter.

This Day in Disney History:

On this day, February 10, current CEO and chairman of Disney, Bob Iger is born in 1951 in Long Island, New York. I would like to wish a Bob a Happy Birthday from It All Started with a Mouse.

Daily Disney Quote:

"There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island."

That's it for today's short blog. As for me I'm going to try to rest up to get better quick. As always in the words of Mickey Mouse, "See Ya Real Soon."
