Tokyo Disney Reveals Expansion Plans and Concept Art

Tokyo Disney Reveals Details and Concept Art for Expansion:

Today, Tokyo Disney revealed details along with some concept art for its major expansion of its theme park due to be completed in 2017. The expansion includes the building of the "Frozen" city of Arendelle in Tokyo DisneySea as well as mini-themed lands dedicated to "Beauty and the Beast" and "Alice in Wonderland" in Tokyo Disneyland.

Arendelle will be located in Tokyo DisneySea in between the current locations of Lost River Delta and Port Discovery lands. All concept art released in today's details is courtesy of Oriental Land Co., the owner of Tokyo Disney.
Concept Art for Frozen's Arendelle at Tokyo DisneySea
Although Tokyo Disney has promised new original attractions for its Fantasyland expansion of the park there are similarities to what has been built in other Disney parks. For the "Beauty and the Beast" themed land it looks much like the entrance to Disney World's entrance to Be Our Guest restaurant. With the Arendelle land a lot of the details look like what is being done to Epcot's Norway pavilion and the conversion of the former attraction of Maelstrom. Tokyo Disney's Alice in Wonderland themed area looks much like Disneyland Paris' Alice's Curious Labyrinth. Here is the remaining concept art released by Oriental Land Company.

Before we get on to our news for the new experiences on the Disney Dream a short note. The refurbishment date for the Pirates of the Caribbean has been moved back to June 8 instead of the closing of May 11 originally. The ride will still remain closed for the entire summer and has a tentative re-opening of September 26, 2015. Now on to the big changes coming to the Disney Dream this fall.

Concept Art for Star War: Millenium Falcon Interactive Play Area
The Disney Oceaneer's Club is getting two new play interactive play areas and one will be an out-of-this-galaxy experience in a complete replica of the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars. Young guests will be able to join the Rebel Alliance upon entering the area and assist in navigating the ship. Children will be able to sit in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon and guide the ship through hyperspace and be able to trigger light speed jumps to different locations throughout the Star Wars galaxy.

Also available in the newly themed area will be Star Wars-themed crafts, games, and activities. Children will be able to watch episodes of "Star Wars Rebels" on a large screen as well as virtually joining the rebellion at gaming stations that will feature the series' action-packed adventures. Handmade gelato, assortment of candy, and other delectable treats among other things will be available in this new sweet shop. The sweet shop will indeed look like a race track, checkerboard-patterned floor, gas pump-style gumball dispensers, and will include Vanellope's race car and King Candy's throne. Your Daily News from Around Disney 4/20/15

It's Monday and it certainly was a busy weekend with Star Wars Celebration wrapping up in Anaheim. Next years celebration will be in London. The weekend went by quickly and it seems the days are just flying by. I can't believe we are already three quarters of the way through April. Anyways lets get into your daily news from around Disney.

Live with Kelly and Michael Will be Live from Disneyland for Diamond Celebration:

"Live with Kelly and Michael" will help celebrate Disneyland's 60th anniversary with shows from Disneyland May 18-22. Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan will bring their show in which Disney hopes will boost park attendance in time for the Diamond Celebration which begins on May 22. The morning show duo will broadcast live from in front of Main Street, USA and Sleeping Beauty Castle.

Guests for the show will include Mariah Carey, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Christina Aguilera, "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Kimmel, "Scandal" star Scott Foley, and "The Middle" star Patricia Heaton. More guests will be announced at a later time. Live with Kelly and Michael will also look into the park's history as well as new attractions at the park.

"Live with Kelly and Michael" is distributed in national syndication by Disney/ABC Home Entertainment and Television Distribution. It is produced by WABC-TV in New York and airs in more than 200 markets.

Bob Iger Named One of Time Magazine's Most Influential People:

Disney CEO Bob Iger has been named to Time Magazine's Top 100 Most Influential People. As written by Rupert Murdoch, Iger is described as a mogul mouseketeer. It says that Iger could have been haunted by the past but has instead created a powerhouse for Disney's future by diversifying the portfolio and not traducing the tradition of Disney. Murdoch continues that instead of being like many of the Hollywood "characters," "Bob is thoughtful leader and earnest individual, decent and dignified, farsighted and focused."

It goes on to talk about how the business of Disney is family whether it be through its family of networks, its movies, theme parks, shows on Broadway, and cruises. Murdoch also writes how ESPN is a juggernaut as a part of the Disney family and business. He writes how Hollywood balked at the idea that Iger spent $15 million on Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm. In turn the transactions turned into brilliant investments that have kept Disney out in front. Murdoch ends with this, "Under Bob, Disney is hardly Frozen in time."

"Rogue One" Teaser and Details Revealed on Final Day of Star Wars Celebration

Usually Sunday's are reserved for my in-depth look at Disney World's hotels, but today is an exception with the final day of Star Wars Celebration. Just a little while ago during the spinoff presentation details and a teaser for "Star Wars: Rogue One" were revealed. The spinoff films were the idea of George Lucas himself and will be called the "anthology" films. The films will vary in genre and scope and feature new characters and worlds.

Concept Art for "Rogue One"
"Rogue One" will begin shooting this summer said one of the directors Gareth Edwards. Josh Trank the other director did not make it to the panel due to an illness. The setting will take place between Episodes III and IV. The footage of the teaser showed a flyover over the jungles of Yavin with a TIE-fighter coming into frame and the Death Star in the background. You can hear screaming and here the voice of Obi-Wan and his quote about a million voices from Episode IV. The plot of the film will be about plans of stealing the Death Star. The plot is, "A band of resistance fighters unite  for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans in Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One." There will be no Jedi in Rogue One.
Rogue One Logo
The characters in the world of Rogue one are in the grey area and are neither good or bad. They are complicated and rich while film will focus on the realities of the war. Felicity Jones will play a rebel soldier in the film. Edwards said he could not turn down the film once he read the script. He also said that he kept his hiring as director of Rogue One for six months until "The Hollywood Reporter" had leaked it. The film itself will be produced in the UK and filmed around the world starting this summer. Here is the teaser that was shown during the presentation. Best quality of the teaser that I have seen so far.

New Star Wars: The Force Awakens Teaser and so Much More from Star Wars Celebration

Let's just start off with what everyone is talking about as Star Wars Celebration began today. Today at the celebration a new teaser trailer has been released. It is jaw-dropping and every Star Wars fan will be in shock once they see it. So without further explanation here it is:

It begin with Luke's voiceover about how the force is strong in his family. His father which shows an incredible picture of Vader's mask. The trailer continues with more clips of our favorite characters and TIE-fighters, X-wings, and the newly evolved stormtroopers. The favorite however is the ending with Han Solo and Chewbacca with Han saying, "Chewie, We're Home." The internet and the Anaheim Convention Center is in a buzz with Star Wars Celebration.

This morning the original cast members of the trilogy gathered on stage for a panel on the new movie. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, and Anthony Daniels gathered on the stage being backed by the newly evolved Stormtroopers for the film. Harrison Ford was absent as he is still recovering from injuries suffered in a plane crash just months ago.

That wasn't all that was shown off in the Anaheim Convention Center for Star Wars Celebration, as the new droid form "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was on hand, BB-8. The spherical droid rolled on stage today as director, J.J. Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy talked about the film.

Abrams explained that originally he thought of creating BB-8 through CG but instead he found it much easier for the actors to interact with the real-life robot. BB-8 even had a arguing match with R2-D2 on stage. Here is the video of what went on:

"Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" opens in theaters on December 18, 2015. Tune in for more info about Star Wars Celebration as the celebration continues until Sunday.

The BOATHOUSE is Officially Opened at Disney Springs

It's Monday and I'm feeling real good today for some reason. I am now less than six weeks away  from my Disney vacation, time is really flying by. The weather has been beautiful over the last few days and it's finally feeling like spring on a consistent basis. Let's get into talking about Disney's new restaurant that opened today.

Disney Spring's The BOATHOUSE Restaurant is Officially Open:

Today, another restaurant has opened in Disney Spring's (formerly Downtown Disney) in The BOATHOUSE. It is one of several new restaurants to open in The Landing, a new section in Disney Springs. The BOATHOUSE is an upscale waterfront dining experience that features steaks, chops, fresh seafood, and a raw bar. The restaurant is built over the water and features seating for 600 (400 inside and 200 outside). The nautically themed restaurant also features a display of rare boats from the 1930's to 1950's, an Italian crafted water taxi, and a fleet of amphibious cars called Amphicars.
Amphicars at The BOATHOUSE
The raw bar includes three to five different varieties of oysters on the half shell, colossal wild-caught Baja shrimp cocktail, and the BOATHOUSE lobster cocktail that is made with a pound and a quarter lobster. Salads are also big at this restaurant featuring a steak salad that features 8 ounces of New York strip steak, a seared ahi tuna salad with Asian dressing, and a Buffalo chicken salad with Point Reyes bleu cheese and spicy pecans.
Rotisserie Chicken at The BOATHOUSE
The menu features entrees that includes a rotisserie chicken that is brined for 24 hours and stuffed with citrus and herbs, then slow roasted. The fish featured on the restaurant includes a cedar plank salmon, daybook fish coming in fresh like Cape Canaveral tripe tail and wahoo. Then we go to the steaks and chops which features a buttery Filet Mignon, a 28-ounce Porterhouse, and a 32-ounce long bone rib chop.
Filet Mignon at THE BOATHOUSE
The BOATHOUSE features some exquisite desserts like the S'More Baked Alaska, a Whiskey Caramel Cornbread Cake, or even the chef's favorite the ice cream float with grape Nehi soda. The children's menu even gets some flare with all homemade dishes. The menu includes the likes of Sticks and Stones which is chicken breast strips and fish that are hand breaded or the Pig in a Blanket that is wrapped with pretzel dough and baked.

That just about covers all the food now the unique experiences that are all at The BOATHOUSE. We mentioned earlier about the Amphicars (pictured above) they are available for tours daily from 10 am to 10 pm. The price tag for these tours will be $125 and the vehicles fit the captain and up to 3 guests.
Here is more info revealed today on other entertainment and experiences available written today on the Disney Parks Blog:

Italian Water Taxi Cruise – The Venezia, a breathtaking 40-foot wooden Italian Water Taxi also offers a Captain’s guided tour of Downtown Disney; this one is complete with live music, chocolate-covered strawberries and a champagne toast. Tours will be offered hourly from 10 a.m.-10 p.m., weather permitting, starting soon, for individuals and groups of up to 20. The cost is $75 per person or $50 per child under age 13. (Want a more private tour for two? Ask about the Antique Steamboat Tour aboard Lady Rose; the cost is $150 per couple.)
“Floating Art” – I knew they were beautiful, but I had no idea I was looking at a multi-million dollar fleet of rare boats. Gathered from museums, private collectors, and boat shows from around the world, be sure to take some time to stroll the marina. Photos are not only allowed, but encouraged, so have your camera handy.
Interior Décor – Boat motors mounted on the wall. Trophies from regattas of days gone by. Stunning photography and artwork, some historical, some richly modern. It’s all incredible. But perhaps my favorite décor element is the brand-new boat that the team modified so it could include a dining table. (I’ll just say it now, everyone will want to sit there, me included!) Of course, the true visual hero, even from inside the restaurant, is the water. The good news is that every single table has a great view, so there’s no such thing as a bad seat.
Entertainment – Harbor Master festivities take place throughout the day and evening, with flag ceremonies and lively musical performances of beloved bugle songs, performed aboard Lady Rose. Inside, live entertainment takes center stage with a variety of musical styles – during my “sneak peek,” familiar songs were floating through the restaurant.
Hours for The BOATHOUSE are from 11 am to 2 am daily and reservations can be made by stopping by the Ship's Store (adjacent to The BOATHOUSE) or by calling 407-939-BOAT (2628).

Mysterious Hatbox Ghost Returning to Disneyland's Haunted Mansion

Today, it was finally announced that the mysterious Hatbox Ghost will be returning to Disneyland's Haunted Mansion attraction next month in time for the park's Diamond Celebration. The Hatbox Ghost is sort of a legend since its disappearance from the attraction just days after it opened back in 1969. Although it has appeared in many pieces of merchandise since its disappearance.

Sneak Peak of HatBox Ghost Animatronic released by Disney.
During the 2013 D23 Expo, Disney Imagineers had an audio animatronic on display of the Hatbox Ghost. Now it has been written by Inside the Magic that this particular animatronic will not be the actual one used for when the legendary character returns to the attraction in May. As seen above in the photo Disney released today we can only see the silhouette of the Hatbox Ghost.

With the Hatbox Ghost's return to Disneyland for the Diamond Celebration, does this mean possibly it also being added to its sister location in Disney World? Nothing has been said if that will happen, but it sure would be nice to see the Hatbox Ghost come to Florida.

For Peter Pan's Flight new magic will be centered around the Darling Family and the nursery scene of the attraction. Instead of Wendy and the boys laying in bed like they have always been, Disney Imagineers are re-imagining the scene where Wendy and the boys are now flying. The shadows of Peter Pan and Tinkerbell will also be present in the scene. Peter Pan's Flight is also re-opening in May in time for the Diamond Celebration.
