"Adventure is Out There" Trip Report Part 2

After 17 plus hours in Animal Kingdom the previous day, there really was no rush to get to Magic Kingdom for when it opened. We somehow without any intention though got to Magic Kingdom right at 9 a.m.

I must say moving the security to right after the busses was a great idea and really does leave a much cleaner look when entering the parks. Of course is there any better view of entering the parks then when you first see Cinderella Castle walking down Main Street, USA.

After a quick stop at First Aid to drop my insulin off, it was time to really start our day. We headed over to Adventureland and began our day with a ride on one my favorites in the Jungle Cruise. Lines weren't horrible through out the day, we waited about 20 minutes to get on.

Rhino was still missing, replaced by hyenas on 6/10/17

Now I won't bore you with each ride we went on, but it was easy picking with getting on the rides that day with the exception of Big Thunder Mountain which was down for most of the day. In the morning we rode besides Jungle Cruise were 'its a small world', Mine Train, Little Mermaid, and Splash Mountain (not in this order). We then headed to lunch at Be Our Guest.

I have now been to Be Our Guest at lunch twice and both times were spectacular. My mother and I both had the Croque Monsieur (Ham & Cheese Sandwich). I had the Master's Cupcake (my favorite) and my mother had the Chocolate Cream Puff. Both meals were delicious and the meals were brought to us rather quickly. 

After lunch it was much of the same with getting on rides as it was in the morning. Although, we did get caught in two quick moving thunderstorms (normal June Florida weather), but they didn't stop us. We saw Mickey's Philharmagic, then headed to Haunted Mansion where we got caught in the first rain storm while in line. It helped that we were in line as even it was still pouring after the fact it did slow down a few minutes later to allow us to get our FastPass at Peter Pan. 

I then had to head over to the Big Circus Tent to switch out my FuelRod which had died. While in the tent another storm had started up so we just waited it out. It was about 10-15 minutes and it stopped and we headed to Tomorrowland. Here we hit Buzz, Peoplemover, Carousel of Progress, and the Laugh Floor pretty quickly. Since, we used up all our FastPasses, I was able to grab a FastPass for Pirates.

Not my best but I'll take it. 

We headed over to Pirates of the Caribbean but since it was still a bit early for the FastPass. So my mother gladly went and got a Dole Whip and we enjoyed the Enchanted Tiki Room. It was then time for our Pirates FastPass and one of my favorite attractions. 

It was a pretty successful day at that point, it was time for dinner. We decided on a whim to eat at the Plaza Restaurant on Main Street. We sure enough got in and had a great quick meal while sitting down and relaxing. I had the Grilled Reuben Sandwich while my mother really enjoyed the Strawberry Chicken Salad. Really, I've never had a bad meal at the Plaza.

After dinner, we headed to the Emporium to do some shopping and then headed to the Confectionary for some snacks before Happily Ever After. We grabbed a spot on Main Street and waited for Happily Ever After. 

Even after watching the live stream of Happily Ever After, nothing could of prepared me for seeing it live in person. It really is the best nighttime spectacular that I've ever seen. The emotions really do get to you with the music and classic Disney films that make an appearance during the show. It was the perfect ending to our trip and another 12 plus hours at the park.

The next morning we were up at the butt crack of dawn to be back at the airport for our 7 a.m. flight. I was back in Pennsylvania and home by the middle of the morning. The trip was so worth it that I can't believe all things that I was able to see in just two days.

It was an amazing and successful trip and I would do it 10 times over if I had the chance to do it again. Being able to see Pandora just shortly after it opened, being able to experience Flight of Passage and the Caring for Giants Tour (seeing Baby Stella will be a lasting memory), and of course seeing Happily Ever After live were some of the amazing highlights of this trip. 

I can't wait for my next trip and its looking like April 2018 can't come soon enough and I already know its going be one my most memorable trips yet. See you all real soon.

New Pirates Scene Coming to Disney Parks, The Chew Returning to Food & Wine, and More

New Pirates Scene Coming to Disney Parks:

In an announcement yesterday on the Disney Parks Blog that new characters would be added to the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in Disneyland Paris. It was also announced that a change to once scene in the attraction will be made in 2018 in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

In the new artist rendering (as seen above) the famous 'We Wants the Redhead' scene will be changed in both parks. The famous redhead will now be joining the ranks of pirates in looting the town of its riches.

ABC's "The Chew" is Returning for the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival:

For the third straight year, ABC's 'The Chew' will be taping live shows from Epcot's International Food & Wine Festival. They dynamic cast will be taping live shows from the festival October 4-6 and the shows will air the following week October 9-13.

With Spaceship Earth as the backdrop, the Emmy Award-winning show hosts will again delight a live audience with on-stage cooking and stories of their Disney adventures plus segments from across Walt Disney World Resort.

Yesterday, also kicked off "The Chew's" Magical Culinary Adventure Sweepstakes in which one lucky winner plus 3 guests to see a taping of 'The Chew' at the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. 

Creative cuisine inspired by “The Chew” also will be featured at “Earth Eats Marketplace, Inspired by The Chew.” Three dishes at the marketplace include Grilled Beef Skewer with Romaine, Apricots and Feta Cheese; Ricotta and Zucchini Ravioli with Rustic Tomato Sauce and Peanut Butter and White Chocolate Mousse with Caramel Drizzle.

This year's Epcot International Food & Wine Festival will run for a record 75 days this year beginning August 31 and running through November 13.

As they did last year, the Disney Parks Blog announced they will be live streaming the 4th of July fireworks from Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. "Disney's Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky" is one of Disney grandest fireworks displays of the year. 

Our live stream of the park’s special “Disney’s Celebrate America! A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” fireworks will be held July 4 at 8:55 p.m. ET. Join us minutes before the fireworks start at 9:00 p.m. ET to learn more about nighttime spectaculars at Walt Disney World Resort.

New Photo Capture Coming to Pirates of the Caribbean; Classics Set for Return to Disneyland

Ahoy there Mateys! Beginning this Monday, June 19 guests jumping aboard the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction should be ready for a new photo capture being added to the attraction. Here are the details from the Disney Parks Blog:

Beginning June 19, Disney PhotoPass Service will be at the helm ready to capture whether a pirate’s life is for you, or if you’re more likely to strike your colors and run up a white flag.
As you prepare to exit a haunted grotto and dive into the Golden Age of Piracy, a Disney PhotoPass camera will capture the perfect treasure of your swashbuckling voyage. Properly warned ye be, says I!
To preview, purchase and download this attraction photo, you must be wearing an active MagicBand linked to your My Disney Experience account. Your photo will be automatically associated to your account, where it can be viewed at MyDisneyPhotoPass.com and in the My Disney Experience mobile app alongside all of your vacation memories from Disney PhotoPass Service.

Fantasmic!, Rivers of America, and Disneyland Railroad Set for Return to Disneyland:

Fantasmic!, Rivers of America, and Disneyland Railroad are all set to return to Disneyland this Summer and now we know the dates for their official return to the park. Fantasmic! is set to return on July 17 in celebration for the park's 62nd anniversary and it will bring new magic to the classic and beloved nighttime spectacular. 

"The treasured Disneyland park experience guests have loved for years, complete with its original fanfare and theme song, will be taken to brilliant new heights. New mist screens will combine with innovative, state-of-the-art projection technology for brighter and more vibrant visuals than ever before, and the show will feature new scenes inspired by Disney animated classics such as “Aladdin” and “The Lion King.”

The classic Rivers of America attractions will reopen, starting with Pirate’s Lair on Tom Sawyer Island this Friday, June 16, followed by Mark Twain Riverboat, Sailing Ship Columbia and Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes on July 29. For decades, guests have traveled the landscapes inspired by four of America’s majestic rivers: the Mississippi, the Columbia, the Missouri and the Rio Grande; each carefully recreated, complete with indigenous rock formations, natural forests and wildlife. The return of these watercraft will bring even more breathtaking views for guests to discover, including an enhanced adventure featuring the new Columbia Gorge section, highlighted by five picturesque waterfalls.

This new waterfront will also include several elevated trestles over which the Disneyland Railroad will travel when it reopens along with the Rivers of America attractions on July 29. An icon for more than 60 years, the Disneyland Railroad holds a special place in the hearts of guests, and it will once again take them on the grand circle tour of Walt Disney’s original Magic Kingdom. For the very first time, the Disneyland Railroad will make a left-hand turn to continue around Disneyland park, and Walt Disney’s legendary dioramas of the Grand Canyon and Primeval World have been carefully restored to their original splendor, with a bit of new magic added to both.

Pirates Picture Book & CD Debuts at Disney Parks; See Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow at Disneyland

Pirates of the Caribbean Picture Book & CD Debuts at Disney Parks:

Last year, a series of picture books with CD's and original artwork called "Disney Parks Presents" debuted with its first book based off of the Haunted Mansion. The second book of the series has officially debuted and its based on the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, which recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary. 

The book shows off artist Mike Wall’s original illustrations accompany the lyrics of the beloved song, “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life For Me).” Together, they navigate readers through the firelit waters of the pirates-infested Caribbean. The CD included with the book contains a specially designed music track by composer George Bruns and lyricist Xavier Atencio.

The book will be available this month at select merchandise locations in Disneyland and at Walt Disney World, as well as other favorite retailers nationwide.

Gondolas Confirmed, Exclusive Star Wars Resort on the Way?, and More

Gondolas Confirmed for Walt Disney World:

Just a few weeks ago it seemed the Gondola system for Walt Disney World was just about to become a reality when Imagineering filed permits to start building. Today, through the media the Reedy Creek Improvement District confirmed that the Gondola system rumored for months is coming to Walt Disney World.

The route which was picked up in a permit filed just a few weeks ago will connect Epcot's International Gateway, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Caribbean Beach, and stop by Disney's Pop Century and Disney's Art of Animation. Rumors have been saying this will be completed by 2019 but I believe this will be done closer to the 50th Anniversary in 2021. Stay tuned for details on Walt Disney World's new transportation system. 

Exclusive Star Wars Resort on the Way?:

A survey is being conducted by a contracted third party of Disney asking guests about letting them stay in an actual Star Wars starship. This was first reported by WDW News Today. The survey includes concept art and details on what would be an all-inclusive resort. Here is what the resort would include:

• The opportunity to experience a 2-day story set in the the Star Wars universe
• Be surrounded in a continuous, story-driven entertainment experience as it unfolds over the course of the 2-night stay
• Have personal interactions with Star Wars characters, live performers throughout the starship (experience the story or simply observe the action according to personal preference)
• Engage in the story with programs such as flight training, ship exploration, lightsaber training, and personalized secret missions (both on the starship and throughout the Star Wars themed planet)

The all-inclusive resort would include meals that would include buffets for breakfast and lunch and a signature dining event. It will also include featured entertainment and dinner shows and exclusive park admission to Star Wars Land that will open in 2019. Amenities will include a pool, fitness area, a Cantina-themed area for snacks outside of meal times, and robotic droid butlers. 

Right now the Star Wars hotel and experience would cost roughly between $900-$1000 a night. While this is not confirmed the concept art being added to the survey seems to make this a serious project under consideration. As always stay tuned.

Walt Disney Archives to Celebrate Pirates of the Caribbean at D23 Expo:

Today, the Disney Parks Blog announced that the Walt Disney Archives will be paying tribute to the 50th Anniversary of Pirates of the Caribbean at this year's D23 Expo. This year's pavilion will be titled, "A Pirate's Life for Me: Disney Rascals, Scoundrels and Really Bag Eggs." The exhibit will pay tribute to Disney's most memorable pirates from Captain Hook to Captain Jack Sparrow. 

The Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, beloved around the world from Anaheim and Orlando to Paris, Tokyo and Shanghai, will have its own section featuring iconic props, Audio-Animatronics and ephemera. Along with some familiar figures, look for concept art for the Disneyland park attraction, classic merchandise items, and canons from the original attraction.

This year's D23 Expo will be held July 14 through July 16, 2017 at the Anaheim Convention Center across from Disneyland.

Pirates of the Caribbean Celebrating 50 Years; Tangled PhotoPass Experience Extended

Pirates of the Caribbean Celebrating 50 Years this Weekend:

This Saturday is the 50th Anniversary of one the most classic attractions in Pirates of the Caribbean. Beginning this Thursday however, guests will be able feast on special pirate-themed grub at French Market Restaurant, Mint Julep Bar, Harbour Galley, Royal Street Verandah, Cafe Orleans, and the Blue Bayou.

Then the party really sets sail Friday, March 17, and on the attraction’s official anniversary, March 18. Guests will find pirate-themed entertainment throughout New Orleans Square by the likes of Bootstrappers and Lucky the Pirate. They can also plunder limited-edition anniversary merchandise, available in New Orleans Square while supplies last. And ye landlubbers who wish ter talk like a pirate – aye, ye’ll getcher chance … with pirate speak collectible cards. And stay sharp, because there will be even more to discover!

Tangled PhotoPass Experience Extended Indefinitely:

The Tangled PhotoPass experience that allows guests to hold the famous luminary floating lanterns from the film has been extended indefinitely. The experience was originally supposed to end this Wednesday, March 15. 

It will be available now on a nightly basis weather permitting.

This morning exclusively on EllenTube the new trailer for "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" was released. It will be seen this morning on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. A poster was released yesterday ahead of the trailer release.

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil's Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack's only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. Countdown to Pandora: The World of Avatar Merchandise Released Today:

Beginning today, the first merchandise for Pandora: The World of Avatar will be available today at Disney's Animal Kingdom in the form a limited edition pin set. There will be a new pin released each month for the next three months ahead of the grand opening of Pandora: The World of Avatar. 

The first pin in this collection (above left) will be released today, March 2. The second countdown pin (center) will be released on April 6. The final individual limited edition pin (above right) will be released on May 4. Each pin will have an edition size of 1,250 and will be released at the Discovery Trading Company inside Animal Kingdom.

The final two pins in this collection, called “Completer pins,” will only be found in the five-pin boxed set (seen at top) containing all five travel posters. The boxed set will have an edition size of 250, and will be released during the opening of this new land on May 27. There will be a purchase limit of two limited edition pins, per style, per guest, per release. These pins will not be available via Shop Disney Parks app or the Disney Parks online store.

New "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Pirates 5" TV Spots Air During Super Bowl LI

Of course Disney is going to use Super Bowl LI to promote their movies. Two of their upcoming films got tv spots during the first half of the game. First up was a new trailer for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2." A new poster also was released:

The tour will be led by Disney VIP tour guides, who will make navigating through the park a breeze by providing the highest level of Disney's world-renowned guest service, all while you enjoy many of the most beloved Magic Kingdom attractions carefree. 

During the tour, guests will be able to experience up to 10 of everyone's favorite attractions that may included: Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, "it's a small world", Peter Pan's Flight, and so much more. Also what trip to the Magic Kingdom would be without visiting the mouse himself, Mickey Mouse. 

The Ultimate Disney Classics VIP Tour will cost $199 plus tax (valid admission to the park is needed and is not included in the price of the tour). Captain's Grille to Close for Lengthy Refurbishment Beginning this Spring:

Captain's Grille at Disney's Yacht Club will close for a lengthy refurbishment, closing in late May with a tentative re-opening of Fall 2017. 

The restaurant overhaul is part of the ongoing remodeling of the resort that includes ongoing room remodeling and the expansion of the resorts' convention center. During the closure, a temporary version of the restaurant in the Ariel's space next door to Martha's Vineyard at Disney's Beach Club.

Tower of Terror Transformation Underway into Collector's Fortress, "Muppet Mobile Lab" Back for Limited Time, and More

Tower of Terror Transformation Underway into Collector's Fortress for Mission: BREAKOUT:

Just two weeks ago, Disney overnight took down the Tower of Terror sign at Disneyland. This is of course in preparation for construction that will take place to turn it into new attraction, "Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT." Today, Disney announced that it has begun the transformation so it will become the Collector's Fortress.

The pictures released today show a model of the fortress that shows how the exterior of the attraction will be completely transformed. Walt Disney Imagineering will replicate what they have released in full size to fully bring the Collector's realm to life. The "warehouse, fortress-like power plant" will be designed to be intimidating and imposing, but also shimmering and regal. It will be the ideal location to bring The Collector's realm to life and show off his most prized possessions, the Guardians of the Galaxy.

"Muppet Mobile Lab" Back for Limited Time:

The Muppet Mobile Lab has returned for a limited time at Epcot for the first time since 2007. It was part of Walt Disney Imagineering's Living Character initiative. It began almost 10 years ago and was the successor to Lucky the Dinosaur.

It features two famous Muppet audio-animatronics which are Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his assistant Beaker. The show itself rolls around on a Segway-type platform as it performs getting interactive with guests around the park. 

While its been awhile since it was last seen in Epcot, it has travelled the world to Disney California Adventure, Hong Kong Disneyland, and various Imagineering presentations and events. The Muppet Mobile Lab will be rolling around Epcot for the next four weeks beginning today.

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" First Teaser Released:

Last night, we got our first look at "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" when the very first teaser trailer was released. The film which doesn't hit theaters until May 26, 2017 brings back the adventurous Jack Sparrow to the big screen.

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil's Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack's only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.  

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” also stars Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs, Golshifteh Farahani as the sea-witch Shansa, Stephen Graham as Scrum, David Wenham as Scarfield and Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa.
Espen Sandberg & Joachim Rønning are directing “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” with Jerry Bruckheimer producing. The executive producers are Mike Stenson, Chad Oman, Joe Caracciolo, Jr. and Brigham Taylor. Jeff Nathanson wrote the screenplay.
