Sweet Spells to Close Next Week; Meet & Greet Cuts Coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom

Sweet Spells to Close Next Week for Good:

A few months ago it was rumored that Sweet Spells and its sweet and delicious treats at Disney's Hollywood Studios would close and a Toy Story Land merchandise shop would take its place. The major renovation on the site will begin on April 16 which means the last day of operation for Sweet Spells will be April 15.

Reel Vogue will remain open while the renovation takes place. Once the work is complete on the new store, Beverly Sunset will be the go to location for Toy Story Land merchandise as the land itself will not have a storefront that sells merchandise besides carts that will carry themed-items from the land.

The good news is select treats from Sweet Spells will be available at other locations within Disney's Hollywood Studios. Beverly Sunset once it opens will also sell some pre-packaged snacks.

Ticket Prices, Parking, Minnie Van Service, and Locker Rentals Price Increases Go Into Effect Today

As it was reported just a few days ago that tickets at Walt Disney World would once again see a price increase, as they do around this time every year.  That was in fact true as ticket prices did increase as of today. You can get a complete rundown of just how much everything is increasing by reading my post from the other day here

Tickets weren't the only thing that increased today however as parking, use of the Minnie Van Service, and locker rentals at the park also saw price increases today.

Parking:

Regular Parking saw an increase from $20 to $22, a $2 increase. Preferred Parking saw a $5 increase going from $40 to $45. As always once a guest purchases parking for one park, parking for the rest of the day at any of the other parks at no additional cost with receipt.

Minnie Van Service:

The new Minnie Van Service that just began in July after the D23 Expo announcement will also see a price increase. It will no longer cost $20 to get anywhere on property as it will now cost $25 per trip to get you anywhere.

Locker Rentals:

As of right now there hasn't been any reports of how much locker rentals at the parks have gone up so stay tuned as once we find out it will be right here.

Rumor: Stitch's Great Escape to Become Alien Encounter Meet & Greet:

Stitch's Great Escape seems to be going away for good with a new sign where the seasonal operating attraction has appeared. Thanks to @1ben_laurence on Twitter where the sign now says Stitch's Alien Encounter Character Greeting.

While no details on this have been announced or available at this time it does seem that the new Stitch Meet & Greet will take the place of an attraction that just never gained popularity. Will this character encounter stay forever. I don't think so as the attraction has long been rumored to be replaced with a Wreck-It-Ralph attraction.

Stay tuned for more details on the new Stitch's Alien Encounter Greeting when they are announced.

Hocus Pocus Sequel in the Works; "AVATAR 2" New Young Cast Explores Pandora: The World of Avatar

Hocus Pocus Sequel in the Works as Disney Channel Original Movie:

They'll put a spell on you and the Sanderson sisters are making a comeback to the Disney Channel. The spell binding film, "Hocus Pocus," that many of us watch every Halloween season is in early development for a sequel as a Disney Channel Original Movie.

The original film follows Max Dennison, his little sister, and an immortal, talking cat named Thackery Binx as they set out to defeat three Sanderson sister witches who have come back from the grave. The upcoming film will be written by Scarlett Lacey (The Royals) and executive produced by David Kirschner, who was the original producer of "Hocus Pocus"!

"AVATAR 2" Next Generation Cast Visits Pandora: The World of Avatar:

The new young cast of the next film of the AVATAR saga has recently visited Pandora: The World of Avatar at Disney's Animal Kingdom. The new cast ranges from 7 to 17 and are mostly newcomers to Hollywood as they were hosted by producer of the film Jon Landau.

Landau was passionate about immersing the cast into the wondrous world of Pandora to prepare them for their significant roles in the sequels. The on-the-ground learning opportunity allowed them to take in the sights, sounds and scents of the stunning world inside Disney's Animal Kingdom.

The next-generation cast had the chance to marvel at the awe-inspiring landscapes, float through a bioluminescent rainforest on Na’vi River Journey, and connect with an avatar and fly on the back of a banshee in Avatar Flight of Passage. They also indulged in blueberry cream cheese mousse and other treats at Satu’li Canteen and shopped for cool souvenirs at Windtraders.

The kids were inspired by Pandora’s rich theming, over-the-top experiences and powerful conservation story. The four AVATAR sequels will be filmed concurrently. Twentieth Century Fox will release the first sequel in theaters nationwide on Dec. 18, 2020. Check out the young casts' reaction to the amazing world:

Disney Officially Announces Birth of Baby Sumatran Tigers

Born last month, Disney has officially introduced us to the boy and girl Sumatran tiger cubs today on Wildlife Wednesday. Sohni, the mother has been taking care of the cubs and bonding well with them in the last few weeks feeding and grooming the cubs throughout the day. The tiger cubs both boy and girl are up to 12 pounds each.
The tigers were bred through the Species Survival Plan, which is overseen by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and ensures responsible breeding and diverse populations of threatened and endangered species. Sumatran tigers are critically endangered, with fewer than 500 existing in the wild due to significant threats like habitat loss, poaching and the illegal wildlife trade.
The tiger cubs will still remain backstage for the coming months and then will debut for guests on the Maharajah Jungle Trek. We can't wait to see them in the jungle.

Some Walt Disney World Attractions Will Remain Closed for Cleanup

Walt Disney World parks have re-opened this morning after being closed for 2 days due to the effects of Hurricane Irma. Guests visiting the parks today however have been greeting by some attractions not being ready to re-open just yet.

The biggest being Jungle Cruise which will at least be closed for another week according to Cast Members. Damage caused by Hurricane Irma has caused boats not even being able to turn on the first turn due to tree damage.

The Walt Disney World Railroad also will not be re-opening today, but Cast Members do hope the train station will re-open tomorrow. The railroad remains closed today due to debris cleanup on the tracks.

Tom Sawyer Island will also remain closed today with no word on when it will re-open yet. The other attraction not re-opening today is Kali River Rapids at Disney's Animal Kingdom.

"Adventure is Out There" Trip Report Part 1

It's been three weeks already since my trip and it just doesn't seem possible that it went by so fast. You've seen my review of our stay at Pop Century and the review of the amazing Caring for Giants Tour. Now its finally time for the trip report a trip that was full of adventure.

We left for the airport around 8:30 for our 10:00 flight, we have a small airport hence the no need to rush. Our flight left on time and we got to Sanford right at 12:30 and this is where the problems began. Our pickup ran into some issues and had to go back to the depot because there windshield wiper was broke. It arrived 45 minutes late only to be told he didn't have a pickup permit. We did finally get going but after some other people were dropped off at Universal, we arrived at Pop Century finally around 3:45 p.m, more than 3 hours after we were supposed to get there.

Finally home!!!
After a quick trip to our room we headed to the food court and had a light lunch then headed over to Disney Springs. My mother and I walked around Town Center and did some shopping. We hadn't been to Town Center yet so just enjoying the sights of the area is quite nice. They did an amazing job. We headed over to The Polite Pig for dinner.

While I have no pictures of the newest restaurant in Disney Springs, it is a very nice restaurant. The food is delicious and was one of my favorite meals of the trip. I got the brisket along with a side of the Mac & Cheese and my mother got the half chicken along with a side of bbq cauliflower. Both meals were excellent and I wish I had gotten the bbq cauliflower because the taste and flavor was amazing. The Mac & Cheese was good but that cauliflower was great. I can't wait to go back there again sometime.

After dinner we just walked around Disney Springs for a little while longer before heading back to the resort to head to the pool. The Hippy Dippy Pool was quite cool on this June evening but it was relaxing. After the pool we headed back to our room, we were turning in early because we were heading to Pandora and Animal Kingdom early the next morning.

We awoke early, probably our earliest wake up call ever on a Disney trip at 5:30 and were down to breakfast by just after 6 a.m. We wanted to be sure we were on the first bus to Animal Kingdom to get in line for Pandora and Flight of Passage.

We did get on the first bus to Animal Kingdom and we arrived to see a mass of people heading over to Pandora: The World of Avatar. Here is the line of people waiting to get into the land:

The mass of people and us were all let into Pandora around 7:45 and we walked straight to Flight of Passage. The line was moving quite nicely until we got into the caves of the queue. This is where we waited the most of the 2 and half hours that we were in line. The queue itself is half the attraction.

After about an hour in the caves we got through to the lab area of the queue. This area in itself is so awesome especially the Na'vi in the tank. We got through the lab area and got to the final room before the lines for boarding the attraction. That is when the problem arose, we were in that room when all of a sudden the lights all came on. There was then an announcement that everyone need to evacuate the building and the ride was shut down. Since our 2 and half hour wait came to an end without even riding it and it being in the same building as Na'vi River Journey (our FastPass for that was gone too).

It was almost 10:30 when that happened and since we had to head towards Kilimanjaro Safaris for our Caring for Giants tour. If you want to check up on my thoughts on the amazing tour and see amazing photos of Baby Stella, check it out here.

After our tour, it was already time for lunch. I had made a reservation on Tusker House under the Rivers of Light Dining Package. Lunch was great and the character interaction with Mickey, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy was amazing. It was really great for my mom as she loves Goofy.

After a wonderful lunch, I headed back to Pandora and went ahead and purchased my own interactive Banshee. Since, I had only a carry-on with our short stay I had to ship him to my house. He arrived later that week, meet Bert the Banshee.

After successfully adopting Bert, we started heading over to the Finding Nemo: The Musical. What an amazing show and it was so nice to get out of the hot sun. After seeing the show it was almost time for one of mine and my mother's favorite rides in Expedition Everest, what a great roller coaster.
It really is a thrill and so exhilarating.

While we were eating lunch, I had gotten an email that since Na'vi River Journey was shut down during our FastPass once it came back up we could use it at anytime until end of park operation. We were also told if we went to guest relations they might be able to help us get on Flight of Passage because we waited so long and we didn't get on it. We headed back to Pandora and rode River Journey.

The Shaman of Songs is so interactive and so life-like, Joe Rohde and Disney Imagineering really out did themselves with Pandora. It was such a peaceful boat ride along the river and hearing the sounds of the wildlife and from the Shaman of Songs was breathtaking.

After that we headed over to Guest Relations and thanks to them they were able to get us a FastPass that could be used at anytime for Flight of Passage. Instead of heading straight to Flight of Passage we stopped at Pizzafari for a quick meal. Not my favorite but it was nice and quiet in there.

We headed over to Flight of Passage and got right through the FastPass line in 15 minutes. When everyone says this is the best ride ever, they really are telling you the truth. Flight of Passage, and I won't spoil it for those who haven't rode it yet, is absolutely amazing and it doesn't disappoint. On a scale of 1 to 10 with the 10 being the best its a 12. That how awesome this ride is.

We finished with Flight of Passage and it was already time to head back over to the Discovery River and see Rivers of Light. What an amazing show to see the reflections of the images on the water. I thoroughly enjoyed the show seeing the animals and the music was absolutely my favorite part of the show.

Once the show was over and traveling through the crowds to get back to Pandora for the Extra Evening Magic Hours exclusive to the new land. Cast Members scan guests Magic Bands to prove they are staying at a resort and they are then allowed to get in line for the ride. We waited another two hours for Flight of Passage. It was so worth it because the ride is that amazing. Here are some shots of Pandora: The World of Avatar at night.

After 17 hours at the park it was finally time to head back to the resort. It was such a successful day in both Pandora and at Animal Kingdom.

That's all for part 1, next week I will dive into part 2 and our adventure to the Magic Kingdom. See you all real soon.

Rumors have been swirling for weeks that the Hall of Presidents would not open on its intended reopening date of June 29 this week. That rumor has been confirmed by Disney yesterday that the attraction that has been closed since January to add a new animatronic for newly elected Donald Trump will now not open until 'late 2017' due to technical difficulties.

Another rumor that has been swirling is whether Trump would have a speaking role in the new show when it opens yesterday Disney confirmed yesterday to MyNews13 in Orlando that he would in a statement, "The same thing that we've done with other presidents, is the same plan we have for President Trump," said Jacquee Wahler, vice president of communications.

Two more restaurants will be adding Mobile Ordering over the next week. This includes tomorrow June 27 at Restaurantosaurus at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Then next week on July 5, it will be expanding over to Disney Springs at D-Luxe Burger. D-Luxe Burger will be the first restaurant outside the parks to offer mobile ordering.
