Disney's Hollywood Studios to Offer Daily Extra Magic Hours Once Toy Story Land Opens

Like Disney's Animal Kingdom last year when Pandora: The World of Avatar opened, Disney's Hollywood Studios will offer daily Extra Magic Hours once Toy Story Land opens. This will at least be through all of July and one would think will last until Labor Day weekend in September.

On opening day of the land on June 30, the park will be opened from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. and will follow up with opening from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily. The park will also have Extra Magic Morning hours from 7 a.m. until 8 a.m. daily. That's not all as every Friday, Disney's Hollywood Studios will have Extra Evening Magic Hours from 10 p.m. until midnight. This of course will all be exclusive to Walt Disney World Resort guests.

Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios will open on June 30, 2018.

WDW InfoClub Level Guests to be Able to Buy Additional FastPasses:

According to WFTV's Chip Skambis Disney will roll out a pay-for-Fastpass program this Friday to Club Level guests at resorts. Here is what he revealed in a series of tweets yesterday:

So that would be $50/day per guest with a minimum 3-day stay and would be booked up to 90 days in advance. This also included an additional fastness to see any of Happily Ever After, Fantasmic!, Star Wars Galactic Spectacular, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth, and Rivers of Light.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Making Changes to Animal Hospital; Summer Discount Announced

Disney's Animal Kingdom Making Changes to Animal Hospital:

The Animal Hospital and Veterinary Treatment Room in Rafiki's Planet Watch is now closed for refurbishment until mid-June. Disney's Animal Kingdom has announced they are continuing their efforts to provide exceptional care for the animals by introducing new technology inside the animal hospital.

Several enhancements will take place during the refurbishment, and after reopening, guests will have the ability to view procedures in which the hospital staff uses two new CT (computed tomography) scanners for animal diagnostics. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is one of only two animal hospitals in U.S. zoos with CT scanners on the premises.

While closed, the animals will continue to receive the best care, but they will receive that care in backstage treatment areas, such as the quarantine building. There will be no on-stage veterinary procedures during the refurbishment.

Then promptly at opening, a new welcome show will officially open the park for the day on the Castle Forecourt Stage. A Royal Herald will appear to deliver a proclamation and welcome a few familiar characters to the stage, officially opening the park so “the magic can begin!”

Further Updates on Hurricane Matthew Effects at Disney World

Update 6:41 PM on 10/7:

It appears that the worst of the storm is over and with that update last night where Hurricane Matthew moved 15 miles east was a huge help. The storm wasn't as strong in the Central Florida area. That was good news for Walt Disney World. Disney Springs even opened up to guests at 5 p.m. today.

While not everything was opened, a limited amount of stores and restaurants did open for guests. Here is a picture courtesy of WDW News Today of what opened.

In other news all Disney World theme parks at 8 a.m. except for Animal Kingdom which opens at 7 a.m. with Extra Magic Hours. Disney Springs, miniature golf courses, ESPN Wide World of Sports, Typhoon Lagoon, and Blizzard Beach will also resume normal operations tomorrow, October 8.

11 p.m. Weather Update:
Hurricane Matthew's track has shifted 15 miles east of what it is originally was supposed to hit the coast. The whole track is now off coast. Storm effects in Disney will still be bad with strong winds and rain but will not be as bad as originally thought. Stay safe everyone.

As many of you already know Walt Disney World closed today at 5 p.m. and will remain closed tomorrow, October 7, due to the effects of Hurricane Matthew. This includes all theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs, miniature golf courses, and the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex. Here is some other updates:

With severe weather expected over the next few days, Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Bungalows will be unavailable beginning Thursday afternoon in an abundance of caution. The safety of our Guests and Cast is always our first priority. Guests staying in these select rooms will be offered alternate accommodations. - Walt Disney World Resort

Of course with Mickey's Halloween Party being canceled tonight and tomorrow, Disney is offering guests with tickets to these parties 1-day tickets to the park or tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

With the parks being closed tomorrow, guests are stranded at their resorts. Resorts are currently offering Hurricane boxed meals which consist of a cold sandwich, chips, fruit, and a muffin for $12.99. A drink will be added to the meal if you are on the Disney Dining Plan. Most food courts at the resorts are closed tomorrow. Other food and drinks will be available.

Disney's phone centers are experiencing very high call volume with unusually extend hold times. They likely will be busy for the remainder of the week. Disney is recommending if you are planning a future trip to Walt Disney World to visit DisneyWorld.com/hurricane.

As always stay safe out there and stay tune right here for updates as they come along on Hurricane Matthew. Our prayers are with you.

With best view of the spectacular show coming from the Center Stage area, it makes sense to create more space for viewing in the area. The current location for the dessert party takes up a lot of capacity space in the viewing area.

Disney Dining Plan Sees 3% Increase, Are Resort Fees Coming to Disney World?, and Much More

Disney Dining Plan Sees 3% Increase Effective Today:

Today, the Disney Dining Plan rates at Disney World saw a 3% increase across the boards for all dining plans. The rate increases are effective immediately. Here is the run down:

The Quick Service Dining plan which includes 2 quick service meals, 1 snack, and 1 refillable mug will now cost $44.13 for adults up from $42.84 and $19.04 for children up from $17.47.

The Basic Dining plan which includes 1 table service, 1 quick service, 1 snack, and 1 refillable mug will now cost $63.70 for adults up from $61.84 and $22.85 for children up from $20.96.

The Deluxe Dining plan includes 3 table (or quick) service meals, 2 snacks, and 1 refillable mug will now cost $115.08 for adults up from $111.73 and $35.49 for children up from $32.56.

Are Resort Fees Coming to Disney World?

The question that is going around Disney Social Media today is: Are resort fees coming to Disney World? Disney has recently sent out a survey asking guests how they would feel about paying a nightly resort fee when staying at a Walt Disney World Resort. Scott Gustin on Twitter took a snapshot of the survey and posted it on the social media website.
As you can see they are asking guests how they would feel about paying a $15/night resort fee to cover the following: Disney's Magical Express, MagicBands, Priority FastPass+ (with planning up to 60 days before arrival), Resort entertainment and children activities, Wi-Fi, Extra Magic Hours, and parking at the resort and theme parks. This is a very common thing at hotels that cover things like Wi-Fi and things such as maybe the gym or parking.

It is also known that both the Swan and Dolphin hotels that are on Disney property but not owned by Disney have resort fees of $25/night. That covers Wi-Fi, domestic phone calls, the health club, and 2 bottles of water. At this point though it is just a survey question and nothing is definite. The question remains though how would you feel about paying a nightly resort fee while staying at a Walt Disney World resort?
