Spoiler Alert! Han Solo may be dead, but we can tell you that Indiana Jones is certainly still alive. Disney made the news official today with Harrison Ford returning as Indiana Jones for the fifth film, no title for the film has been given yet. Steven Spielberg will also be returning to direct the fifth film which is tentatively set to be released on July 19, 2019. Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will also produce the film.
Chairman of Walt Disney Studios Alan Horn had this to say about the return of the famed hero archaeologist, "Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history. It's rare to have such a perfect combination of directors, producers, actor and role, and we couldn't be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven."
Indiana Jones originally hit theaters in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark, which is one the American Film Institute's Top 100 Films of All Time. It was followed by 3 more sequels to the film with Temple of Doom (1984), Last Crusade (1989), and most recently Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008.
