UPDATE: New Frozen Attraction to be Called 'Frozen Ever After' First Image and Details Revealed

Yesterday, a tentative date was reported for the new Frozen attraction that is being built in the Norway pavilion at Epcot. Today, more details were revealed along with the first picture of concept art for the new attraction that will be called 'Frozen Ever After'. Disney released the details through an article in the Wall Street Journal.

With the ride tentatively set to open May 1st of next year, 'Frozen Ever After' the attraction is an adventure for the whole family taking them through the kingdom of Arendelle. The Disney Parks Blog wrote this about the upcoming attraction and the synopsis of it:

"Guests will be transported to the Winter in Summer Celebration where Queen Elsa embraces her magical powers and creates a winter-in-summer day for the entire kingdom. They also will visit Elsa's Ice Palace and the ice-blue world of the North Mountain along with other locations before returning to the Bay of Arendelle."

Characters like the snowgies from the Frozen short "Frozen Fever," Grandpappy Troll, the Marshmallow Giant Snowman, and many more of your favorite "Frozen" characters.

Details released on the new meet and greet for Anna and Elsa include where guests will go into the "Royal Sommerhus" where it will reflect Norway's cultural arts and crafts.

Just a bit ago on the Speakeasy Blog on the Wall Street Journal revealed even more details on the attraction setting almost a scene by scene summary of what guests will see when they arrive in Norway. Here is the synopsis of the ride.

  • No new songs although new lyrics will be added to existing songs written for 'Frozen Ever After' by movie composers Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson Lopez.
  • The logs and the path of the old Maelstrom attraction will remain but everything around the attraction is being replaced.
  • While in line guests will visit Wandering Oaken's Trading Post where Oaken will occasionally clear steam on the windows and yell "Yoo Hoo" to guests.
  • Once they are boarded on the ride guests will see Olaf and Sven setting up the Winter Festival premise.
  • Next scene is a stop to see Grandpappy Troll telling the story of how Anna and Kristof met. The log will then go up a ramp where Olaf will be singing and ice skating, right next to Anna and Kristof who are singing with Sven.
  • Through a set of doors, guests will finally be greeted by Elsa who is singing 'Let It Go' in her ice castle (as seen in the concept art), elaborate effects of simulated snow crystals soaring around the room.
  • Next up will be Marshmallow, the formerly evil snowman, and his snowgies where he will yell "Let It Go' in time with Elsa's song before the log reaches the final scene through a mist cloud.
  • The final scene includes fireworks and a wave goodbye from Anna, Elsa, Kristof, Olaf, and Sven.
The audio animatronics will be cutting edge and use the same projection technology behind the faces to create more lifelike action that was used in the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train that opened last year in New Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom. As I said yesterday we will be watching as more details are being released about the now new attraction 'Frozen Ever After'. Tune into It All Started With a Mouse for the latest.
