Egg-stravaganza Hunt Returns Plus New Scavenger Hunt Coming; Some Applications for Club 33 at Walt Disney World Sent Out

Egg-stravaganza Hunt Returns Plus New Scavenger Hunt Coming for Flower & Garden:

Beginning March 16 through April 1, the Egg-stravaganza scavenger hunt will return to the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. Guests can hunt high and low in World Showcase for 'eggs' that portray their favorite Disney characters.

As you find the hidden Disney Character-themed “eggs” in the park, you record your discoveries by placing a corresponding sticker on a specially themed Egg-stravaganza map. Maps and stickers can be purchased for $5.99, plus tax at the following parks and locations Disney Trader, Pin Central, and World Traveler. When guests find all of the “eggs” and complete their scavenger hunt map, they can then return it to Disney Traders for a sp-egg-tacular surprise.

That's not all as a new scavenger hunt will be hitting this year's Flower & Garden Festival called Spike's Pollen Nation Exploration. During this hunt, guests will follow along with Disney's favorite honey bee, Spike, who has been pollinating around the festival, giving gardeners of any age the chance to follow his pollination trail around World Showcase.

Just pick up a garden map and stickers at Port of Entry. Then, it’s time to look for Spike!
As guests explore the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, be on the lookout for Spike as he pollinates Epcot’s gardens. In each garden, they'll have to search for the plant Spike has pollinated, identifiable by Spike himself and a Spike’s Pollen Nation Exploration plant stake. Once they find him, add the corresponding sticker to your map.

After they find everything they can return their completed map for a springtime surprise. Maps and stickers for Spike’s Pollen Nation Exploration can be purchased for $5.99, plus tax at Port of Entry. This year's Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival runs February 28 through May 28, 2018.

Some Applications for Club 33 at Walt Disney World Sent Out:

It appears some applications for Walt Disney World's Club 33 have been sent out to select individuals at Golden Oak, the upscale community near the theme park. Registration costs and annual dues have also been released which are $25,000 for registration and annual dues will be in the neighborhood of $15,000 per year.

Although not officially announced, Walt Disney World's Club 33 will have an exclusive club in each of the four parks. Construction has already begun for location like Magic Kingdom's Club 33 in the Adventureland Veranda. There have been no official locations announced however or any opening dates.

Disney Cancels 'Gigantic' Its Version of "Jack and the Beanstalk"

In 2015, Disney showed off a massive model of an animated film they were working on based of the classic childhood story, "Jack and the Beanstalk", called "Gigantic" at the D23 Expo. Shortly before this year's expo the film which was supposed to premiere in 2018 was pushed back until 2020. Now as of yesterday the film and ideas are being shelved.

It was an updated take on the classic fairytale in which Jack befriends a female giant. Meg Lefauve (Inside Out) and Nathan Greno (Tangled) were slated to co-direct the film. While Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Frozen) were slated to write songs for the film. Part of the reason the film was delayed from 2018 and 2020 was because Robert and Kristen were busy with writing the music for "Frozen 2" due out in 2019.

Disney & Pixar Animation President Ed Catmull had this to say in a statement:
"It's impossible to know when we begin a project how the creative process will unfold, and sometimes, no matter how much we love an idea or how much heart goes into it, we find that it just isn’t working. With Gigantic, we've come to that point, and although it's a difficult decision, we are ending active development for now. We are focusing our energies on another project that has been in the works, which we'll be sharing more about soon, now set for Thanksgiving 2020."
No details on the new project were not released but Disney fans can prepare for the next two films in animation in Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It-Ralph 2 due out on November 21, 2018 and the much anticipated sequel in Frozen 2 due out November 27, 2019.

Now what does this mean for the parks? Rumors had been swirling for months before this year's D23 Expo that Disney had plans to build a Spain Pavilion at Epcot with an attraction based on Gigantic. That rumor was pushed back once it was delayed until 2020. Now it could be in jeopardy with the film being shelved.

Of course Disney can build a Spain Pavilion without an attraction based on 'Gigantic' but it seemed they had high hopes for the film since they had an attraction already in the works before the film even hit theaters. Now the film has been cancelled and now only questions remain. One of those big questions is: Will Disney build a Spain Pavilion at Epcot now that 'Gigantic' is shelved or will it choose another country to debut on World Showcase?

Walt Disney Company Pledging $1 Million for Hurricane Harvey Relief:

We are all praying for the people of Houston through this horrible natural disaster. Today, the Walt Disney Company along with ABC television station KTRK-TV in Houston donated $1 million to the American Red Cross to help people who are affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Also, to benefit those impacted by the storm, Disney|ABC Television Group will be hosting a “Day of Giving” on August 31. A “Day of Giving” will begin on Thursday morning with ABC local affiliates and Good Morning America, and continue throughout the day on ABC, Freeform, Radio Disney. Across our social platforms, there will be a #DayofGiving call-to-action to donate to the American Red Cross, with those dollars going to benefit those most impacted.

“Our hearts go out to everyone in the devastating path of this historic storm. It’s hard to fully appreciate the impact, in part because it isn’t over yet. But we know thousands of people have lost everything and now face the daunting challenge of putting their lives and communities back together, and we’re using our unique resources and reach to help those in need," said Bob Iger, Chairman and chief executive officer of the Walt Disney Company.

Disney is also matching dollar for dollar any donation made by Disney Employees to the American Red Cross or any other qualified organizations involved in the relief effort through the Disney Employee Matching Gifts: A Program of The Walt Disney Company Foundation.

We are 11 days away from the D23 Expo and the rumors are getting hot. Today, WDW News Today, reported that Brazil could very well be the next country added to World Showcase in Epcot. The pavilion would be in between the Italy and Germany pavilions.

It would be an empty 1.5 acre plot that was left empty since Epcot opened back almost 40 years ago in 1982. There is a rumor of an attraction but there has been no word on what kind of attraction would be placed in the new pavilion.

According to the sources WDW News Today has, Disney will be announcing Brazil as the new country at this months D23 Expo in Anaheim. The D23 Expo takes place July 14-16, 2017.

New Hidden Mickey Pins for 2017; Figment Scavenger Hunt Coming to Festival of the Arts

New Hidden Mickey Pins for Disneyland and Walt Disney World for 2017:

If you are a big Disney pin collector like me you will be as excited as I am about the new Hidden Mickey pins being released for 2017. Both Disneyland and Walt Disney World will be seeing the first wave of these pins very soon. Most of the collections are different from each coast except the Smiling Villains which will appear at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

At Walt Disney World Resort, guests will also find pins inspired by Disney attraction icons along with pins featuring Disney dogs, characters from Disney’s “The Lion King” and Mickey Mouse-inspired fruit.

In Disneyland Resort, look for pins inspired by classic Disney attraction icons, signs from Disneyland park, and characters from Walt Disney’s animated classic, “The Jungle Book.” There will also be a set of all silver-colored chaser pins which are rarer to find compared to their full color counterparts.

I love Hidden Mickey pins, how about you? Which pins will you be looking for on your next visit to Disneyland and Walt Disney World?

Figment Scavenger Hunt Coming to Epcot's International Festival of the Arts:

A Figment-themed scavenger hunt will be delighting guests while they enjoy the first ever Epcot International Festival of the Arts. "Figment's Brush with the Masters Scavenger Hunt" will allow guests to search for Figment around World Showcase. Here is the only description from Walt Disney World's website about the scavenger hunt:

"Can you find Figment? Slip into sleuth mode while searching for clues that lead to the elusive little dragon—leave no painting in the World Showcase unturned!"

No other details have been released about the scavenger hunt but one would assume it will be a lot like Remy's Hide & Go Squeak that takes place during the Food & Wine Festival. The Epcot International Festival of the Arts will be held Friday's through Monday's beginning January 13 and ending on February 20, 2017.

Choza Tequila Confirmed for Mexico Pavilion at Epcot

Disney confirmed today that Choza Tequila is in fact coming to an outside stand in the Mexico pavilion at Epcot. Frozen Margaritas will be returning to the pavilion after the last stand just outside the pavilion last year. Here is what Choza Tequila will bring to the park:

Choza Tequila will be an authentic outdoor tequileria, just outside of the Mexico pavilion. Here, you’ll find refreshing hand-crafted margaritas and classic Mexican cuisine like tacos, empanadas, chips and fresh guacamole.

The new stand will help alleviate the lines at La Cava Del Tequila inside the Mexico Pavilion since the last one closed. No exact opening date has been announced just to expect Choza Tequila to open in early 2017.

Changes Coming to Some World Showcase Entertainment at Epcot:

Several entertainment acts are being changed in World Showcase at Epcot. Acts in Canada, Germany, and Morocco will see changes beginning today, January 1. Here are the details:

Canada:
Alberta Bound is leaving Epcot on January 1, 2017 and will be replaced by the familiar Bodh’aktan on Wednesday, January 4, 2017. “Bodh’aktan, seven piratical rogues who take the stage with the musicians who fuse elements of rock, traditional, pop, and punk!” Bodh’aktan is committed to play this round in Epcot through January 22, 2017

Alberta Bound will then return to Epcot on January 23, 2017

Germany:
Margret Almer & the Bavarian Band. The Margret Almer Band will be leaving Epcot on January 1, 2017 and Weis n Baum will be arriving on Sunday, January 8, 2017. Weis n Baum is a Bavarian Oktoberfest band that primarily performs in Munich Germany, but travels to other locations as well. Expect a Bavarian and Polka inspired music with an updated twist. They describe themselves as:

“With an astonishing variety of tradititional instruments and song repertoire the Bavarian folk music represents a unique tradition within the cultural landscape of Germany. Bavarian culture is more than just the OKTOBERFEST, the world’s largest Volksfest. It is a deeply rooted tradition of music, costumes and way of life. This tradition should be maintained by the young generation!”

Morocco:
Musique Aramenco is leaving Epcot after playing January 1, 2017 and Matboukha Groove will take their performance location on January 15, 2017 for an undetermined length.
Happy New Year!!! I hope everyone has a prosperous and healthy 2017.
