BaseLine Tap House Now Opened at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Announced back in July, the BaseLine Tap House officially opened as part of the new Grand Avenue area at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The new area opens the remnants of the former Streets of America in the park which closed last year because of construction on Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and Toy Story Land.

BaseLine Tap House sits among the vintage office buildings and warehouses that represent the glory of Grand Avenue in Downtown Los Angeles. Formerly known as the Figueroa Printing Company, this re-purposed print shop specializes in beer and wines from the Golden State of California, featuring craft ales, lagers and cider as the stars of the drink menu, along with California wines on tap and specialty cocktails that you won’t want to miss! If you can’t decide on one drink, then try one of BaseLine’s customizable beer flights, with up to 126 possible combinations of craft beers! Rounding out the drink menu, the pub also offers gourmet non-alcoholic lemonade and soda on tap.
Also available besides the delicious beverages being served, BaseLine will offer up small plates to satisfy their palate such as a Bavarian pretzel with mustard and beer-cheese fondue, spiced almonds, and even a charcuterie board highlighting a variety of California cheeses.

The Tap House is located just around the corner from Sci-Fi Dine-In on the now Grand Avenue and will be open daily from 11:00 a.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Recipe of the Week: Crispy Onion Rings from Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater Restaurant

Our recipe of the week segment is back this week with Crispy Onion Rings from the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant. Here's a funny story I don't like onions but I do like onion rings its the only time I will actually eat onions. Here is the recipe:

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater: Crispy Onion Rings

Ingredients:
1 large onion (or 2 small), cut into 1/4" rings
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 cup dry bread crumbs
cooking oil, for frying
salt, to taste

Directions:
In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add in the separated onion rings and toss to coat. Remove the rings from the bowl and set aside on a plate. Now add the egg and milk to the flour mixture and whisk until well blended. In a second bowl, pour dry bread crumbs.

Heat 1-inch of oil in a deep skillet to 365 degrees or until a drop of batter begins to sizzle. When oil is ready, begin coating the onion rings. First dip them into the batter, shake to remove excess then place in bread crumbs to coat. Shake again then place into the hot oil for 2-3 minutes, until golden brown. Turn and brown other side. Remove from hot oil and place on paper towel-lined plate. Sprinkle with additional salt, to taste. Serve with ketchup or horseradish dipping sauce like at Sci-Fi.

Marvel's Kevin Feige Will Report to Disney Instead of Marvel:

Since Marvel was bought by the Walt Disney Company their executives still reported to their CEO in Isaac 'Ike' Perlmutter. Now, things are changing with now president Kevin Feige reporting to Alan Horn, chairman  of Walt Disney Studios. A company spokesperson said it "was the logical next step."  There have been rumors that Feige has been clashing with Perlmutter.

Walt Disney Studios already does this with two of its other brands in Pixar and Lucasfilm with John Lasseter and Ed Catmull overseeing Pixar and Kathleen Kennedy leading Lucasfilm. Going forward Marvel Studios will centralize many of its film-related functions at the Burbank studios. Marvel's TV Group, publishing, and other Marvel activities will continue to report to Perlmutter. Along with Feige, co-president Louis D'Esposito will also report to Horn. This was all first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Merida Coming to Disney Junior's Sofia The First:

The 4-part episode called "Sofia the First: The Secret Library" is set to air October 12 at 9 a.m. ET/PT on the Disney Channel and later that night on Disney Junior at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
