Marvel Land Coming to Disneyland in 2020; Tickets on Sale Now for Not-So Scary and Very Merry Christmas Parties

Marvel Land Coming to Disneyland in 2020:

Back in July at the D23 Expo, Disney teased a Marvel Land coming to Disneyland. Very little details were revealed and we were just told to stay tuned for updates in the future. Today, just some of those details were revealed as a fully immersed Marvel Land will be coming to the park beginning in 2020.
At Disneyland Resort, the new Super Hero-themed land will begin recruiting guests in 2020, with even more new experiences to follow. The Guardians of the Galaxy will be joined by Spider-Man and the Avengers in what will become a completely immersive Super Hero universe, furthering the evolution of Disney California Adventure park. This new land will be anchored by the popular Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, in the adjacent space that is currently occupied by “a bug’s land.” “It’s Tough to Be a Bug” closed March 19 to make way for this new heroic experience; the rest of the land will close in late summer.

This goes along with previously announced for Marvel-themed lands in Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland.

Disney Looking to Buy Part of 21st Century Fox; New Christmas Party Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Card

Disney Looking to Buy Part of 21st Century Fox:

News broke yesterday afternoon that 21st Century Fox is looking to sell part of their company to the Walt Disney Company. Although it appears talks are stalled at the moment on the deal. The deal would not include Fox News Network, Fox Business, or Fox Sports Networks. Here is the article from CNBC by David Faber:

21st Century Fox has been holding talks to sell most of the company to Disney: Sources
21st Century Fox has been holding talks to sell most of the company to Walt Disney Co., leaving behind a media company tightly focused on news and sports, according to people familiar with the situation.

The talks have taken place over the last few weeks and there is no certainty they will lead to a deal. The two sides are not currently talking at this very moment, but given the on again, off again nature of the talks, they could be revisited.

For Fox, the willingness to engage in sale talks with Disney stems from a growing belief among its senior management that scale in media is of immediate importance and there is not a path to gain that scale in entertainment through acquisition. The company is said to believe that a more tightly focused group of properties around news and sports could compete more effectively in the current marketplace.

The media landscape has changed considerably in recent years with giants such as Facebook, Google (Alphabet), Amazon and Netflix changing the way people consume media and dominating the digital distribution of digital video content. Being able to compete in that changing landscape, many people believe, requires scale that a Disney has, but 21st Century Fox does not.

For Disney, the opportunity to take control of another movie studio and significant TV production assets as it readies a direct-to-consumer entertainment streaming offering is attractive as is Fox's significant exposure to international markets, such as the U.K., Germany and Italy — both through its networks and 39 percent ownership of Sky. Disney recently announced it will pull all of its movies from the Netflix platform and will establish two direct-to-consumer offerings: one for sports and one including its key franchises such as "Star Wars" and Marvel.

Disney would not purchase all of Fox, according to people with knowledge of the talks.

The company could not own two broadcast networks and would therefore not buy the Fox broadcast network. It would not buy Fox's sports programming assets in the belief that combining them with ESPN could be seen as anti-competitive from an antitrust standpoint and it would not buy the Fox News or Business channel. Disney would also not purchase Fox's local broadcasting affiliates, according to people familiar with the negotiations.

In addition to the movie studio, TV production and international assets such as Star and Sky, Disney would also add entertainment networks such as FX and National Geographic.

The contemplated structure of the deal or the price that has been discussed could not be learned. Given it would involve the sale of many, but not all of Fox's properties, it's unclear how Fox would mitigate potential tax consequences of a deal.

Officials at Disney and Fox declined to comment.

The new sign as seen above looks like it will go between two new banners that were added yesterday to the theatre. You can see it below without the old sign.

Preview "Pete's Dragon" at Disney Parks Beginning July 1:

Guests visiting Disney Parks will get a sneak preview of Disney's remake of its cherished film, "Pete's Dragon" beginning next week on July 1. At Disney's Hollywood Studios, guests can see the preview as part of One Man's Dream. While at Disney California Adventure guests can catch the sneak peak of the film in 3D with special in-theater effects inside the Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land.

In “Pete’s Dragon,” old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children for years with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliot. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliot seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year- old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.

Catch the 10-minute sneak peek of Disney’s “Pete’s Dragon,” and look for the film to materialize in theaters in 3D on August 12, 2016!

Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration

It’s just days before Christmas and all through this house, excitement is stirring thanks to Mickey Mouse.
Mickey is thrilled that the holidays are here, and he knows the only way to make this season more special, is to share it with friends. So he’s throwing a Most Merriest Celebration and inviting lots of Disney pals—and you—to join the festive fun!
Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto are dropping by dressed in their Christmas best. Peter Pan is flying in from Never Land, Alice and the White Rabbit are hurrying over from Wonderland and Woody and Jessie from Toy Story are galloping in for this holiday ho ho hoedown. Plus, Snow White and Dopey, Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket and many more surprise guests will be stopping by.
This joyous performance is the perfect yuletide treat to share with your family. Olaf Meet & Greet Area Opens at Hollywood Studios:

Get excited "Frozen" fans as the Olaf meet and greet at Hollywood Studios officially opened yesterday. At Celebrity Spotlight, located in the Echo Lake area of the park, guests can meet the lovable snowman while he is living his dream "In Summer" and chilling out on the beach. Olaf is ready to give those warm hugs that are worth melting over to all his new friends.

The other new meet and greet involving Mickey and Minnie will open to guests this Sunday on Mother's Day, May 8. "Mickey & Minnie Starring in Red Carpet Dreams" is just around the corner from Olaf's meet and greet on Commissary Lane.
Here, you’ll discover Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, living the dream as A-list Hollywood stars. Walk the red carpet and step right into a scene with Minnie, where she appears as a Tinsel Town starlet in a ritzy setting straight out of a lush and colorful musical extravaganza. Next, join Mickey in a scene from “Fantasia,” where he’s portraying his iconic role of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
I can't wait to get to Hollywood Studios in September where I will surely go and meet Olaf. How about you?
