Carrie Fisher, Our Princess, Has Passed Away

Carrie Fisher, known for quick wit and her amazing personality, has become one with the force. Fisher passed away earlier today days after suffering a massive heart attack on a plane coming back from London to Los Angeles. Carrie Fisher, is most notable for the role of everyone's princess, Princess Leia in the Star Wars Saga. She was 60 and leaves behind her mother Debbie Reynolds and her daughter, Billie Lourd.

“Carrie and I have been friends most of our adult lives. She was extremely smart; a talented actress, writer and comedienne with a very colorful personality that everyone loved. In Star Wars she was our great and powerful princess – feisty, wise and full of hope in a role that was more difficult than most people might think. My heart and prayers are with Billie, Debbie and all Carrie’s family, friends and fans. She will be missed by all.” – George Lucas
“Carrie holds such a special place in the hearts of everyone at Lucasfilm it is difficult to think of a world without her. She was Princess Leia to the world but a very special friend to all of us. She had an indomitable spirit, incredible wit, and a loving heart. Carrie also defined the female hero of our age over a generation ago. Her groundbreaking role as Princess Leia served as an inspiration of power and confidence for young girls everywhere. We will miss her dearly.” – Kathleen Kennedy, President, Lucasfilm
“Carrie Fisher was one-of-a-kind, a true character who shared her talent and her truth with us all with her trademark wit and irreverence. Millions fell in love with her as the indomitable Princess Leia; she will always have a special place in the hearts of Star Wars fans as well as all of us who were lucky enough to know her personally. She will be sorely missed, and we join millions of fans and friends around the world who mourn her loss today.” – Bob Iger, Chairman and CEO, The Walt Disney Company
"Carrie was one-of-a-kind.....brilliant, original. Funny and emotionally fearless. She lived her life bravely...My thoughts are with her daughter, Billie, her Mother Debbie, her brother Todd, and her many friends. We will all miss her." - Harrison Ford

Carrie besides being an extraordinary actress was also a prolific writer. Her books included: Postcards from the Edge, Delusions of Grandma, Wishful Drinking, and recently released The Princess Diarist, which were based on diaries she wrote while filming: "Star Wars: A New Hope" in 1977. Fisher had been promoting the book in London when she was coming back home to Los Angeles. Carrie, our princess, will be deeply missed.

The Making of Shanghai Disneyland, Anthony Daniels at Star Wars Celebration, and More

The Making of Shanghai Disneyland:

We are just hours away from the grand opening of Shanghai Disneyland. I could only wish I was there to be joining in on the fun and excitement of Disney's newest theme park. Today, Disney released a six-minute plus video on how the new Shanghai Disney Resort became authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese. Check it out:
Anthony Daniels Joining the Fun at Star Wars Celebration London:

Anthony Daniels, the only actor to work on all 7 Star Wars films as C-3P0 will be joining many of his fellow all-star cast members next month at Star Wars Celebration in London. He will meet with fans in the Celebration Autograph Hall and will join the fun on stage with host Warwick Davis.

He is the arms, legs, and voice of one of favorite droids of the saga. He also toured as host of "Star Wars in Concert" in presenting the wonders of music from the movies to audiences around the world.

Body of 2-Year Old Recovered in Seven Seas Lagoon After Horrific Gator Attack at Grand Floridian:

As many of you know the horrible week in Orlando continued last night when a 2-year old (which I will not name for privacy of the family) on vacationing at Disney's Grand Floridian with his family was tragically dragged into Seven Seas Lagoon by an alligator. His body was recovered fully intact this afternoon by divers around 3:30 p.m. this afternoon and turned over to a medical examiner.

Disney had closed all beaches at its resorts and water transportation while in search for the remains of the boy. The body was found about 15 yards from shore where the water is about 6 feet deep. George Kalogridis, President of Walt Disney World released this statement on the tragedy:
"There are no words to convey the profound sorrow we feel for the family and their unimaginable loss. We are devastated and heartbroken by this tragic accident and are doing what we can to help the family during this difficult time. On behalf of everyone at Disney, we offer our deepest sympathies."
I questioned whether I would even write this story after the horrible tragedy this weekend. I pray for the family of this child that they may heal. I can't imagine the pain they are going through as no parent should have to go through the loss of a child. Please join me in sending thoughts and condolences to the family in their time of need.
