Could Iger be Staying Longer as Disney CEO Than Expected?

Bob Iger for months has been saying he would be stepping down in 2019 as Disney CEO. Now that a deal to purchase part of Twenty-First Century Fox is set to finalized by early as next week, it is now being reported that Iger is likely to extend his term beyond 2019.

According to CNBC, Disney would extend Iger's contract once the deal for 21st Century Fox is finalized. He would remain head to help oversee the potential merger of the two companies.
The deal would include Fox's Nat Geo, Star, regional sports networks, movie studios and stakes in Sky and Hulu, among other properties. It would not include Fox's news and business news divisions, broadcast network or Fox Sports.
Since 2005, when Iger became head of Disney he has overseen acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm. He has held several executive positions with the Walt Disney Company over the last two decades.
