Fans are sad today as Disney Parks broke news last night that a classic musical at Disney California Adventure will be saying goodbye with its last show on January 10, 2016. "Disney's Aladdin - A Musical Spectacular" will be saying goodbye to the Hyperion Theater after 14,000 shows to make way for a new musical production on Frozen. The new musical production will open in the summer of 2016.
The new show will immerse you into the world of Frozen, as never before seen, with elaborate costumes and sets, stunning special effects, and surprising scenic transformations. Dana Harrel, Portfolio Creative Entertainment Executive at Walt Disney Imagineering had this to say on the new show: "Our stage production of 'Frozen' will stay true to the hear and soul of the film. Anna and Elsa will carry the audience on an emotional journey that includes show-stopping production numbers and a few unique theatrical twists. We can't wait for everyone to see it."
Now as we say hello to Frozen we must say goodbye to a show that made its debut in January of 2003 as it took millions of guests 'wonder by wonder' through such delights from the movie. Disney fans will miss Aladdin at the Hyperion Theater as it makes way for Frozen. In addition, to the stage show, there will be an Anna and Elsa meet & greet, as well as the continuation of "For the First Time in Forever - A Frozen Sing-a-along" at Disney California Adventure.
How much will you miss Aladdin at DCA and are you at all excited for the new musical production of Frozen?
Staggs Gives Updates on Park Expansions:
After little details about when the massive Star Wars Land on both coasts or Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios would open were given at last month's D23 EXPO. Today, COO Tom Staggs during a Q & A at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference gave some details that should make fans breathe somewhat.
Staggs during the session revealed that construction for both Star Wars Lands and Toy Story Land would begin next year in 2016. Now while he wouldn't give an approximate date for the when the lands would open he was quoted in saying "really, really soon." He also noted as many believed that Toy Story Land would be completed before Star Wars Land.
My speculation with construction beginning sometime next year and his 'really, really soon' statement of when it will be done, it sounds to me Disney will try to have Toy Story Land done by late 2018 and Star Wars Land done maybe by early 2019. Anybody else have speculation on this?
